I am very pleased to welcome you to General Panet High School, which is showcased here on our revitalized website, designed and maintained by a few of our Communications Technology students under the leadership of their teacher. Our school is housed on Canadian Forces Base Petawawa and we welcome adolescents from both the town and the military base. We offer the full range of curricular programs, catering to the needs of all students. It is our goal to prepare young people for the next stage of their life, whether that is post-secondary education or the world of work. In this diverse economy, employers are seeking specialized skill sets. To that end, students and parents should explore some of our niche programs which award our graduates an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with a focused area of interest. We offer Specialist High Skills Majors in Health and Wellness and Transportation Technology as well as a French Immersion program and a High Performance Sports program for training athletes. In addition to our courses, students benefit from our staff expertise in our extra-curricular program which represents music, drama, art, athletics and special-interest clubs. Our Student Success program ensures that every pupil receives the support they need to learn essential skills and flourish in their chosen pathway.
Indeed, a wide array of curricular and extra-curricular activities is on offer at General Panet High School, but it is important to remember that it is the people who make the school. I most appreciate the energy and enthusiasm that the staff and students put into their learning, whether it is in the classroom, in the sports field, or in artistic expression. I am in awe of the stimulating and challenging environment for learning as I walk the halls and visit classrooms where students and teachers express clearly their love of learning. Our coaches, advisers and student leaders have made it their mission to make every individual feel proud to be part of such a welcoming and inclusive school, where “character matters”!
