1) Deb Walden – re motion on black shorts passed last meeting.
- Most schools sell t-shirts and shorts in order $17
-Athletic council didn’t think students should be required to purchase gym clothing
-Different sports require different shorts
-Athletic council could order in shorts three times a year to have them available

School Council will leave this matter.

2) Bullying

- Ria Horn and Andrea Frisina from Morison
-Honouring differences with an understanding heart
-Did a presentation on a PA day and then one for parents
-Understanding differences lowers bullying incidents
-Tried to put people attending into a situation where they were being bullied
-Discussed character education
-Book:  “Nineteen Minutes” by Modi Picoult; good book for high school students
-ETFO has lots of good resources on-line
-Both Andrea and Ria would be happy to do a parent night next school year.  Need at least 10 parents, 20-30 would be fine.
ACTION:  Leslie to raise this issue first meeting in next school year.

3) Business arising
- Patti – gift cards – staff agrees this is a good idea
ACTION:  Leslie to raise this also at first meeting in next school year.
- Terry – grade 6 night for parents – not felt that this is required primarily because not many decisions need to be made.  Students already visit ahead.  Larraine Meteer will poll grade 6 parents.
ACTION:  Terry invite School Council to open house at Keys in fall.  Terry – volunteer sheets for Keys to be distributed early.

4) Correspondence – Assembly of School Councils
-Organized by a principal who is leading the parent involvement committee
-Confirmation date May 15, meeting May 27
-Both Janice and Leslie will attend, anyone else can notify them by May 15
-Copyright letter
-Lead in water letter

5) Reports – no issues with either principal’s report (James & Michael silver medal).  No students reports.  Teaching report from Judy Horodnyk – TACO presentation cancelled.

6) New Business
a. Bullying Survey – emailed around for grades 6-8.  Grade 6 students have done this survey this year.

ACTION:  Terry – make sure information from grade 6 survey gets passed to Keys staff.  Survey to be filled out by grades 7 & 8, Terry to modify the survey as he sees fit.

b. Dress code – in force at all school events?  Not at a dance.

c. Keys – grade 8 grad – need someone to learn to organize to take over from Janice Wilson.  Debbie Birney volunteered possibilities – cafeteria available, Mustang Grill could do finger food.

ACTION:  Patti to check to see if Mustang Grill could do food for Keys Grade 8 grad Tuesday, June 24th and get back to Janice.

7) This will be the last meeting of the year.  Meeting in the fall organized by principals likely September 23.

8) Adjourned motion by Judy Horodnyk.  Seconded:  Julie Moore.
