ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Special Education Advisory Committee meets 10 times during the school year on the third Wednesday of the month at the Renfrew County District School Board Administration Office, 1270 Pembroke Street West, Pembroke, ON  K8A 4G4.  Meetings are held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and are open to the public.

The Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) is a committee mandated by the Ministry of Education.  All boards of education must have a SEAC.

The Committee is made up of representatives of local agencies, other community groups, parents, and trustees of the Board.  Special Education Department staff provide support and resources for the committee.

SEAC members are available to parents/guardians:

·         to provide information for the Identification, Placement and Review Committee (IPRC); to be a resource for schools and the community;

·         to advise the Board in the provision of programs for all exceptional students.

What Does SEAC Do?

·         SEAC makes recommendations to the RCDSB on matters affecting the establishment and development of special education programs and services in respect of exceptional students of the Board

·         SEAC members participate in the annual review of the Board’s Special Education Plan

·         SEAC members represent and inform the Board about the work of the agency they represent
